Comfort and Safety
Utrecht Central Station, the Netherlands' largest train station, has undergone a lighting upgrade. Advanced Magnus Circular Tuneable White luminaires were chosen for this project. This technology not only offers energy efficiency, but also emphasises the architectural features of the station. The use of ‘human-centric lighting’ mimics daylight, contributing to the comfort and safety of passengers.
The implementation of the light lines, developed specifically for Utrecht Central Station, including a Light Management System, required careful planning by both SPIE and Veko due to the daily challenges at the station, such as passenger flows and shopping activities.
A major advantage of the new lighting is the 60% energy savings compared to the old lighting. In addition, the Magnus Circular Tuneable White can display different colour tones, from cool white to warm white, creating a dynamic and adaptable environment.
