Good linear lighting makes a difference
The Jaap Eden hall has a rich history. It was the site of the Dutch Figure Skating Championships in 1974, and ABBA has also performed there. With a size of 100 m x 50 m, the hall has hosted many events. Now it was Veko’s turn to take a spin. Both the ice rink and the grandstand are equipped with LED line lighting.
In all, 295 Magnus luminaires (impact-resistant and IP54) have been mounted over a length of 544 m. To obtain the right intensity of light, the luminaires are placed in a light line. The lighting consists of a double line on the outside, the inner line of which is rotated to a 45° angle. This provides additional light on the outside (on the boarding side, where ice hockey matches take place), as well as sufficient light in the middle of the ice rink. Line lighting was chosen because of the enormous cost savings and because the lines are easy to disassemble. The line lighting could thus be easily adjusted should the hall be expanded in the future.
