A smart choice
A special parking building with a surface area of 20,500 m² has been realised on the Berlinplein in Utrecht. It has seven floors and can accommodate 620 vehicles. This building is located in the Leidsche Rijn district — the city’s future entertainment area. The icon of this car park is a three-metre-high snipe — a meadow bird that was common in this former horticultural area.
One wish of the municipality of Utrecht was to keep the mounting connections on the ceiling to a minimum. The choice for a Veko profile with an extra-wide cable duct made it possible to conceal all other cabling in the profile nicely. All light lines are connected to each other (with T and corner pieces specially developed for this project), so that the profile is continuous and is used for all piping. The Magnus X-Wide IP54 has been mounted in the garage. This series is often used in low spaces. The X-Wide illuminates both the road and the parking spaces. Visitors experience this as very pleasant and safe. The waterproof (IP65) Magnus X-Wide has been mounted on the roof. The sensors are made of BEG (PD4-M-1C), in combination with Encelium Coupler. A light management system ensures that the municipality of Utrecht will always have an overview of energy consumption and that malfunctions will be reported immediately.
